This section covers a listing of some of the cruising nights, shows and events that we attend. This will be one section of the website that you can return to often to see what’s going on. It will include past, present and upcoming events. Essentially we shall be going “back to the future”.

Another of our mini-goals when doing shows and cruising nights, along with the fun and fund raising, is to entertain and educate those who attend. We have one pet-peeve about these events. Car owners invest lots of time and money to rebuild, modify and restore their automobiles and motorcycles. Before an event, they spend days preparing and cleaning these vehicles to bring them to a public event where 100’s and maybe even 1000’s of people walk by. The eye candy is very entertaining as people ogle over these magnificent machines. Have they covered all the bases? The answer is no. What is missing on 95% of these cars is proper signage.

Many owners don’t even bother to fill out the registration paperwork to place on the windshield, which is given out at the gate. Most do not have anything that even identifies the year and model of the vehicle let alone provide pertinent details and factoids. Unless owners stay with their prize possession and are willing to talk with passersby, a great deal of valuable information is never shared. We have seen many spectators, young and old stand in front of a car talking among themselves trying to figure out what kind of vehicle they are viewing.

Next time you are at a cruise night, see if these three following observations are correct. Number one, the average age of the owners of the vehicles is 55 or older. Number two, there is a definite lack of young people attending or participating in these events. And, number three, the vast majority of cars will have no informative signage.

Impressive, well done, informative showboards are readily available. Here are a few of mine. ( insert one for the DeLorean time machine, the Kawasaki and one for the Corvette).  Considering the amount of money owners spend on sprucing up their pride and joy, what the heck is a few hundred dollars more to produce an item that could help educate and inspire current and future automobile enthusiasts? We highly recommend Tony Palmieri. Check him out at  www.palmiericoncepts.com

We’ll be posting details and highlights of the event and a few pictures. If there are additional pictures or videos, we’ll post a link to get you to that section. So ride along with us and share the fun.

WHEN WHERE FUN DETAILS
June 2011

"Fathers Day Car Show" at Monty Tech, Fitchburg, MA

Our Show debut.  It was an overwhelming experience.  Everybody loved the car and we won a "gas card".  One of the fun things was, in addition to the time machine, we brought our 1958 Corvette and parked it next to the time machine.  The previous year, the Vette had won the "People's Choice" award.  This time all of the spectator action prompted a good friend of mine with a sage wit to state "I never thought there was a way that you could make your Vette invisible."

We were invited to participate in this prestigious event and brought both DeLoreans.  They gave us a very conspicuous location right inside the main entrance.  The feedback was very rewarding and we won a very nice trophy.  Here is a link to our very first ever YouTube video.

This event has to be seen to be fully appreciated.  Imagine a massive empty parking lot in front of the home of our beloved N.E. Patriots around 1:30PM.  Now return there around 5PM and whammo, there are now over 2,500 specialty, custom antique and muscle cars and about 500 motorcycles thrown into the mix.  We received a rousing welcome and brought smiles to 1000's of faces.  We were there for about four hours. A great time was had by all!

Another event that, if you can make it, you would absolutely love! This is a real race pitting vintage machinery in a "race of the century". We were invited to participate in a segment at the end titled "what does the future of transportation hold?" where Bill donned his Doc Brown costume and did a very funny skit. Here is a link for the video we shot at the event.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJrxrIe7e9Y  Another video was shot by our good friends Virginia and Rich Oliver, this is from the second day of the event http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtWbLSAT788  For this event the Collings Foundation made a very generous donation to the Michael J. Fox Parkinsons Research Foundation on our behalf.

This is a great Friday night cruising event and I try to make it as much as possible with the different cars. This was a special event because Doc was making his debut. My good friends Virginia and Rich Oliver were kind enough to take some pictures which, as proud parents, include a few of their son Ray.

This fun show was the first for the SSP Mustang! The time machine made its first appearance at this event as well. Each car won a first place in its class and the DeLorean won a trophy for the "Favorite Interior". Both cars participated in the parade as well. It was a great event!

Knowing that the show season is unfortunately coming to a close, we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful mid-October weather for this show, and are we glad we did! It turned out to be a huge success, as nearly 300 cars of all types attended including a pocket door Kaiser-Darrin, a 1910 Oakland, 3 Corvairs, lots of muscle cars/street rods and more Mustangs/Corvettes/Camaros than you could shake a stick at!

Once again, the DeLorean and the Mustang SSP attended. This show awards 50 trophies, to include the top 44 cars along with special trophies for the "best" Mopar, Ford, GM and Foreign Make as well as a Peoples Choice and a Best of Show. The Mustang won a trophy so I was pleased, but Bill was in for a big thrill as the DeLorean won the Best of Show! Here are a few photos from the event:

This event, as documented in our "Fun Activities" section of the website, was a great success as we were able to raise $475.00 for TeamFox, Michael J. Fox's Parkinsons Research Foundation! People dressed in 80's garb enjoyed music from the same decade and had a chance to get their picture taken with the Time Machine. Here are a few pictures from the event.....
